Im keeping myself locked unto God!

I'm holding on to him.

Its amazing, because for the past 2 days, i've remembered to start my days with God.

And both days, God's presence was with me, His presence was really with me and my days couldnt have been better.

Because i know, even if the day was bad, i have a good with me. And that good is God alone.

I can be unhappy that day, but i can be joyful with God.

and the day can be full of happiness, and joyful at the same time too!

I enjoyed the fellowship i had with JunLin, BinHua and Waikeong tonight. (:

We joked, we sang, we ate, we shared.

And the best of all was.. we were finally blessed with our desires, youtiao.

haha, we decided to post this up to personally make Xinru and Jinlin jealous. (:

lol.. no lah. We just wanted to share. (:

Thing is, many people has been trying to be intentional, everyone in different ways.

Even myself, and recently, i've been trying to be intentional in relationships.

So, this was a great opportunity, as i could spend time with these 3 great people. (:

Its good that i maintain a relationship, but i wanna initiate more relationships.

I maybe closer to Binhua, but i wanna be close to Junlin, to xinru, to jinlin, to joshua, to everyone too.

yup, so pray for me guys! Im praying for everyone of you too.

It may be tough, and i may not have been doing well in this, but with God, by faith, i know i can do it, and i will keep trying. (:

Intentional Discipleship 2010

This year our church is focusing on Intentional Discipleship

And this has 2 parts to it - The Disciple and the Disciple Maker

From this week onwards, I am going to do my part to intentionally disciple people to become lifegroup guitarists

I will give my best to intentionally disciple them to become ministers of God

I want to build up the next generation of lifegroup guitarists to be people who use their talents to bless people around them, the lost, the found and the ones who love God to the max.

I'm gonna do it intentionally, and I'm gonna intentionally to source out from people who can help me to become a better guitarist to squeeze the juice out of them! ^^

Prologue

26 teenagers chosen by the Almighty God were placed in the land of Woodlands, sent to reach out to the lost, the hopeless, and the broken hearted. Each individual being so unique have their set of characters and skills. God chose them from the many thousands from their schools. Now they must be the light of the land of Woodlands and fight this spiritual war against darkness.

I hope each and everyone of us really got something out of the camp. you know what, woodlands? I'm just so pumped up to go reach out to the lost leh, cos God showed me the lost and the hopeless during pre-camp, camp and post-camp. I refuse to let all these people to be part of the lost generation. i refuse to tell people that there is no hope. Woodlands is not meant to be a hopeless place. I want to build up the house of God in this land that we are given.

Woodlands, let's choose to obey God and respond to God's call. Let's refuse to give up even though the journey may be tough. Let's step into our new chapter with God given convictions from camp and not let the fire in us extinguish! Do what we need to do - write our convictions down, fast and pray, go outreach, go bang the wall (im kidding bout this one), disciple people, do something out of the ordinary.

Don't let the camp be the climax. Let it be the bottom of the mountain, and climb to the peak. Don't walk around it, don't walk away from it. Face the mountain and let's climb!

What a sacrificial heart.

While he was in Bethany, reclining at the table in the home of a man known as Simon the Leper, a woman came with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, made of pure nard. She broke the jar and poured the perfume on his head.

Some of those present were saying indignantly to one another, "Why this waste of perfume? It could have been sold for more than a year's wages and the money given to the poor." And they rebuked her harshly.

"Leave her alone," said Jesus. "Why are you bothering her? She has done a beautiful thing to me. The poor you will always have with you, and you can help them any time you want. But you will not always have me. She did what she could. She poured perfume on my body beforehand to prepare for my burial. I tell you the truth, wherever the gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her." -Mark 14:3-10

We should always give our very best to Jesus, irregardless of what we are doing. This unknown woman has truly set an example by breaking the alabaster jar of pure nard which can be sold for more than a year's wages and pouring it on Jesus' head for his burial. Since Jesus died on the cross for us and suffered so much, giving our best for the Kingdom cannot be compared to the pain he endured, simply because he has faith that he will be saved. In the same way, we should have the faith to continue walking on with God and trust that what we have done will pay off and we will meet Him in Heaven one day. We may face persecutions along the way, but as long as we persevere and have faith in God that He will guide us through everything. And also let's spur each other on in this race. :D

A simple, but fruitful gathering

There are a bunch people we want to specially honor and appreciate today (:

Firstly, a thank you for Yanxia: Without your heart of willingness and skillful hands, we will be literally eating wind today. From the buying of ingredients to finishing the sushi, there was no sign of complaints because you knew the cause of your giving. Thank you for serving his people with your talent, your effort made the enjoyment of the entire GEN.

Secondly, a thank you for Junjie: For being a good servant in this family. The moment you reached, you offered your hands not by words but by heading right straight into the kitchen. Your heart of servant hood continues to amaze me up till this day. Kingdom of God needs people like you, keep it up!

Thirdly, a thank you for Junlin: For always opening his house to all of us for gatherings. Although he might not say it, but it is always obvious that no ones falls in love cleaning up the place after GEN people eats sushi. We have holes below our chin. One quality that I never want to miss in affirmation for him is always his willingness to consecrate his resources for his people! With such man in our midst, we are greatly blessed as a entire community. Thank you, without you; no kitchen, no house. Imagine cooking rice with BBQ pit. Jiayou.

Lastly, a BIG thank you for the rest for those who helped in the kitchen and also the ones who bridge everyone together by just simply talking; or those who played the GAME OF LIFE and gave birth to 1000 babies. Sincere expressions

I just want to take this time to affirm someone who has played a significant role in my life. This person has all along been someone I admire spiritually since I came church four years ago. I met him for the first time sitting at the metal benches right outside Istana Park, when I was just about to let go in my spiritual life. That was when he told me "I was angry when you said it's impossible for Zhende (my friend then) to come back"

He had a unexplainable vibe in him; the way he talks, the way he gestures his hands. " A cranky but spiritual guy"-That was my first impression of him.

It has been a long time, perhaps he has long forgotten about it. Today, he is none other than my mentor: DAVID HOE TECK CHYE! It has been quite sometime since he had led me, and the land of woodlands. Through his life, I have been greatly blessed. He showed me what it means to really struggle, yet always making decisions that are God pleasing. There are countless of pictures I can remember, but the scene that left a dinosaur footprint in me was this:

He came down to admiralty park to join us for captain's ball event with shorts and bulky crumple bag. As much as he hates it, he chose to live out what he has directed and modeled for us.

Through your life, you have shown many people a uncompromising faith to believe in God; a heart of diligence driven by his love, a lifestyle of evangelism that as yet faltered, and your walk with him that you never chose to under emphasis. You have left a trail of fire in woodlands, and we promise you that we will not let your investment in our lives return with negative results.

At this moment, the only thing that is present in my mind is to relive the legacy again.

(M18) SUCK ME DRY

The holding of hands amplifies many symbolic meaning it can represent. I would believe that the first instant when our hands were being held were by our care takers and that alone gave us the assurance knowing that someone is leading us.

As the realistic world start to become surreal as we aged, we being to realize the palms of male and female differ in size and that's when we were made to 'hold hands' when we were in primary school. That's if you come from a both gender school.

Then awhile later, the differences of our physic and our relations to the opposite gender create a sense of awkwardness when we continue to hold each other hands in school. Hence, by the education level of primary three most would leave their hands free for their own. Yet, the holding on hands during the stage of discovery was for the need of social touch.

Strange enough, what seems to be repulsion seems to attract when we enter puberty. That's where raging hormones over power whatever past experience we use to have. Needless to say, the hormones are so powerful that it personified one longing to be loved. That explains for the many pair of hands that are being held together at ridiculous size. By size, i mean small palms and height.

However, what's interesting with this holding on hands is that it never stay constant for a decade (If you ever meet one, you must be lucky as the probability is 1/10000).

It changes with different partners. Once we had enough of each other, the chemistry due to the all powerful hormones seemed to fade away. Enough of leeching on one another to give each other the extra intimacy and emotional care that's fleeting. Funny thing is, the raging hormones despite got tired of this emotional game will revive itself and start eyeing for new people that they can leeched on in the name of love. Or maybe, conditional love.

This cycle seems to continue till we finally decide to settle down on someone who we decide to get marry too( if not when age catches up, it's too late). The days of honeymoon will soon be over and the cycle of leeching each other dry will elevate up once again. The sucking process never ends. When this gets so tiring, then maybe we shall file for a divorce.

Who suffers the repercussion? The children.

What amazes me is that, those parents were also the one who once said that they want to have a happy family when they get married. However, they do not recognize that the truth of the problem is in themselves. It all starts with them allowing to feed on each other ever since they were young. They were also the one who choose emotions above commitment which explains for the ever changing partners like changing of undergarments.

Truth be is it this, the never ending sucking process will never end. The solution is not to find new partners for you to suck dry but to learn to find the one who can fill you with what you need. What everyone needs is knowing that there's a unconditional love that is always ready to flow in them. The insecurity that is residing in every single soul can be eradicated with his never ending assurance that we are his forever.

I always believe in marrying a princess but in order to do that i want to be a prince. I can't imagine asking my wife this question and we are practically fine with it.

David: Dear, how many ex do you have before me?

Wife: Not a lot, maybe 5 or maybe it was 10?

David mind: WTH, WHY AM I SHARING MY WIFE WITH 5 OR 10 OTHER GUYS.

Alright, that being said does not mean that people who choose to let this love reside in one's heart will never face the emotional lack. However, when they go through this they can be practically honest with each other and admit this lack and ask God to fill their love tank.

I always believe, how can you love when you have not received love?

Singlehood is a blessing and I'm proud of mine. Why do I need to live for specifically one person when i can choose to build more solid friendships when I have the ample amount of time. Singlehood allows me to see the true clours of people instead of the mask being. :D

Joshua 17:12-13
¹² When Moses' hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset. ¹³ So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword.

Just like how Aaron and Hur supported Moses in the midst of battle and that resulted to victory. The above man of God did and are doing likewise in the current ministry.

Truth be is is this, though we might not engaged in a battle that is as ferocious in the physical sense but it's equal or if not even more in the spiritual sense. If plain leadership in the world seems tormenting to one physical being, then spirit leadership would aggravate all the three aspects of physical, emotional and spiritual. That alone is leadership, but we have not factor in the stuff that one has to administer. By now, I'm not advocating that leadership is direful to oneself but it's reap so much joy when you know who you want to please. At the same time, i know all our ID:JC leaders have at least the similar foundation reasons on our service to God. Of which, one would be because it flows our of our love for God.

Before I further deviate, I was saying that on top of leadership which I believe that most leaders would agree with me that it's taxing the load of replying mails, booking of rooms and many others can at time be a toll to the physical self. However, if all these administration is not done well the entire body of Christ suffers. Simply because the church is govern by three concept of growth (at least for now) spirit, structure and system.

If the system were to fail, no matter how deep the spirit is and effective the structure it's counter productive. As a leader for many years, I must admit that I am not one that can do all three effectively and especially when my age is catching up. That explains for the amount of depletion of energy at times. Therefore, the system indeed is a imperative though seemingly insignificant process of growth. Though that is what it's portray, I would beg to differ. Simply because the system is simply like the backbone of the church. The blood could represent the spirit and structure might be the muscles but if there were no backbone it's simply collapses.

Therefore at this particular point of time, I would like to esteem two person in GEN that have been managing the system well in GEN which actually contributes to ID:JC growth. In fact, this is not even managing but a healthy discipleship. Where the baton is now pass on to Jun Jie from Jericho.

Jericho, i honestly cannot count with my bare hands on the number of times I called you out of the blue to either book room, checking availability of rooms, stats and even checking of meeting dates. Out of the countless number of times, you have never rejected me once and give me the necessary updates that were required. Honestly, like what i always say i really cannot imagine life without you. For the numerous times on reminders with payment to the rooms, it really helps. GEN was able to administer well because of your constant faithfulness. Once again, I want to just take minutes out to appreciate all that you have done behind the scene. Thank God for you! Continue to use your faithfulness to lead your people and I honestly look forward to the day where I can sit beside you in the Youth LGLM level. Till today, my belief in you has never subsided. Jia you! You are doing well, keep up the good work! Continue to work on areas that you know that might hinder you! :D Don't let those minor barriers stop a giant for God to achieve even greater things for his Kingdom. Once again, you are truly appreciated!

BTW readers, my theology of faithfulness is not merely managing but being able to produce fruits. Don't believe me, just read the parable of talents. :D

Now, the Jericho has set the stage our very own loving shepherd Jun Jie. I know that butterfly feeling that rushes through stomach and blood when this role was empowered to you. On one hand, it was the feeling of inadequacy while the other was filled with excitement. Your enthusiasm for the work of the Lord is commendable. I still vividly recount last Youth LGLM you were outside America room to chase leaders for stats. Of which, I wonder if you have ever asked yourself why go that mile to do all these? Even if you did, I know and believe everything that flows our from you is from a reservoir of unconditional love that comes from a personal relationship with Him. Secretly, I often chanced upon your blog and one of your most recent post was about asking God to equip you to administrate better. Friend, your diligence in the kingdom matters has more impacted than what you are doing. Though it seems small, but i was to empower you to think bigger. Whenever you keep doing your best, what you are simply doing is more than GEN, ID:JC, North but it's to the entire youth level. That being that means international. As mentioned earlier leadership is more than spirit and structure, you sustained the backbone! So friend, my only expectation from you is simply your best. Jericho have set the stage higher than the previous (Sentosa), now it's your time to elevate it by just continue doing what you have been doing. :D If I were to go on, i can but i know that would strain your eyes. So I want to encourage you to draw strength from God daily as you continue to engage in Kingdom business in whatever you do. Simply from going to school, shepherding, outreaching and so much more. Let the love of God continue to liberate from all the things you do. To me, you are someone that I am quite certain that God will use greatly to impact lives individually that will reap a ripple effect as you continue to walk with Him. Though sometimes the road will seem bleak, but you must always remember that God is still molding you to become the man he has wanted you to be.

Once again, I'm honored to serve alongside with two man of God who I know that were not simply made to do the ordinary but extraordinary. Keep up your faith and treasure your walk with God. Never lost sight of what does it mean to be child like.

If there's just one thing I want and can keep up with you guys is a child like faith. I'm apprehensive that my age can ever run slower and wait for you guys. But I know my faith can! :D

This brings me back to How God never leaves us, nor forsake us, like how it is said in the book of Hebrews.

Upset, terrified, worried, etc.. all these emotions and feelings that has been tempting us to give in.

As much as i understand that i shouldnt, this feelings/emotions just did their work on me as i gave in to them..

Had an unpleasant feeling for the past 2 days, and thought maybe a movie with my friends could cheer me up.

But, who would have thought the movie we watched made it worse.

I was so terrified by the movie, that i struggled with figuring out how i should go back home alone, in the dark night.

I walked out of the theater room after the movie, feeling irritated and all of a sudden, that spooky feeling just disappeared........

I wondered what could have made it disappear, and i cant help but to realise that it was God's presence.

Never in my whole life have i been able to go home alone unafraid after watching a scary movie,

and God really did something.. By showing his love and presence to me.

The assurance that he gave, tells me that there's nothing to be feared at his voice. :D

God be my place of Refuge. (:

PS. Just a random sharing. But i signifies how graet God is.. Proving how he would not leave us, how he still love us. :D

A simple yet memorable blessing i had yesterday
As most of the people in Woodlands know, it has been really pouring these few days, and today was no exception. When i walked out of school, it was just a drizzle. However it got heavier as i continued my journey towards 888. Thankfully my friend had an umbrella, and she sheltered me to the blocks, and from there i walked the park connector which was under the MRT track, and i was dry! quite. But as i was about to reach 888, which also means that im getting out of the nice sheltered path, the rain was like, wohooo. So i made a simple prayer, for the rain to get smaller, ad wait until i get under the shelter then it can get bigger la. True enough, the moment i stepped out of the shelter, the rain got smaller! And when i reached the shelter, wow the rain was...thunderous. HAHA. and everyone at 888 was amazed that im quite dry! Thank God! i didnt take bus alright! xD

11 April, Monday. My day had started to be rather uneventful. I woke up at 11am and went to the sinseh for a treatment I had been procrastinating. This time it was more painful than all previous times because it was an old-injury-turned-severe. Nevermind about the pain. Little did I know it was only the beginning of a something more severe. My aunt had called me to turn up 1 hour earlier to tutor my cousins at Toa Payoh because my baby cousin, 3 years old, was home alone with the two other kids. She was worried and so I agreed. To cut the long story short... On my way there, I read an sms from Junjie reminding me to submit documents for my NYP card. Today was the deadline. I wasn't so perplexed at first. But later Yongqing called me for directions to the NYP office, which I was totally clueless as well, and she reminded me that the deadline ends 5pm. It was already 3.30pm. I panicked like an egg on a pan. I cancelled the tuition, rushed home and quickly ransacked-gathered the documents, got them photocopied and rushed to NYP. I was 3 minutes away from the closing of collection. But I couldn't find the room, had to call Yongqing who went there in the afternoon for directions. Under her simple yet confusing instructions, I made it! Haha. I got my poly card. A potential bad day became unexpectedly great. As an independent person, I seldom need to be helped but today proved me wrong. Thank God for helping me win a race against time and thank God for friends like Junjie and Yongqing! (:

Hey,I just wanna share something with you guys.Today i was sick and didn't go to school,had a headache.Then when my mum woke up in the morning,and found out that i wasn't going to school,she began nagging at me cause it's like i everyday monday sick 1.Then she scolded me,then something came over me,and i vented my fustration on the pillow by throwing it to the window and my mum was at the door,completely 2 different sides of the room.
Then she shouted,"you wanna throw the pillow at me right?!"and then she began to hit me.Then i just said this as i was weeping cause i was crying at the moment,"I wasn't gonna throw it at you,just wanted to vent my fustration by throwing my pillow"After that,she said i couldn't go out to church and only can go out 3times a week and then she stormed out of the room,got her things for work and left.This happened at around 6.40.I was still crying and in fact,cried the whole morning.I asked God this,"What have i done wrong?I just talked back."and he told me this,"your temper&attitude,it has to change.Honor your parents."Then i thought about it,and felt that i did wrong,i hurt my parent's,they care about me so much,but yet i always think they care too much and wants me to be like my brother.
So when my shepherd,JunLin,wanted to find me,i went out to have lunch with him at 888.I shared my story to him,but i didn't tell him the full story cause i was still a little demoralized,so here is the full story.My mum told me to go home right after i ate my lunch,was kinda grounded.
On the bus home,i prayed to god that he would soften my mum's heart,if not,i wouldn't be able to do outreach,fellowship and lots more.When i reached home and ate dinner at 6.30,she told me this,"the reason i let you go to church is because church won't teach you bad"and then she said that i could go out everyday and service also but i gotta get good grades for my studies.

Honestly speaking, I was rather nervous. For the first time after so long I'm able to lead a lifegroup this size (8 of them today). I gotta lead this well, this is the first ever LG after the new structure. Something that amazed and encouraged me was the gratefulness of the people towards God. Sharing blessings used to be a "I'll go first, somebody else volunteer later okay?" for me. But this wasn't the case. After myself, without any instruction, they just shared their own testimony of how God blessed them, even the new believers like Branel and Sze Yuan. Everyone shared. My nervousness just vanished at the sight of that. I like the spirit and I enjoy being part of this community. Props to all of you. Hehe.

Had a great time hanging out with my beloved NorthGEN throughout these past few days. Just came back from one whole day of sports and losing weight, feeling refreshed and rejuvenated after a cold bath. The feeling is awesome, wooo. (:

The point of this entire post is take time to appreciate 5 important people who are constantly running the race with me all these while; Simply for being a pillar of strength to my leadership in NorthG and being a inspiration to me as a person.

JUNLIN: For being someone who loves God and listens closely to his heartbeat for God's people. Despite harsh circumstances and giant waves crashing over him at times, he always grab unto God as the unshakable platform; which is mainly the reason why he is lousy at giving up and defiantly wrestles with the impossible. Throughout this short period of time, he has grown in humility and growing to becoming a strategic leader in terms of directing and planning. As a matter of fact, he is also one of the few that I see consecrating his talents and resources for God in a powerful powerful way; Guitar, keyboard, house, financial, and time. Furthermore, he always seek to give the glorification back unto God and leave no for himself. The price that he consistently pays for the kingdom of God has always serves as an inspiration to me and fuels the entire team to move ahead in impossible situations. Personally, I thank you for showing me what is means to live out what you believe and take steps together as a team to reach it uncompromisingly.

KOKSOON: For being someone who yearns for God authentication in his life. Honestly speaking, I can rack my brains for a thousand years and find no reason for him choosing to stay where he is today; except for him understanding what is God's unconditional love for his people and community all about, playing as one of the reason why he is always generous with his time and resources for people. If one were to describe his level of faith, it can definitely be suggested by his height. Coming a long way through ups and downs, I am simply amazed by how he still thrives to source for convictions through personal time with God, to live up to God's expectations through the most difficult and toughest moments. I also thank God for his heart of discipleship that constantly seeks to impart valuable principles that never fail to leave footprints in hearts of people. He might not be loud in convictions and seemingly phlegmatic in ministry, but never misunderstand the same equation to be applied for his spirituality, for with no doubt is packs a punch in it. I thank you for showing me how to be sensitive with God and be fully secure to know who has God called you to be.

JIANHAO: For being someone who treasure God's people and seeking to believe in them neither through experience, nor surrounding perspective. And because of this indispensible quality he have internalized with, it constantly leads him to invest in people without keeping anything for himself because he has long sort out his personal priority before he meets Mr.Crossroads. The truth is, be it in ministry or as a person, he is always one whom thrives to lead a righteous life and leave no matters unquestioned. Given an opportunity, he is always ready with effective solutions and Godly advice to help others in times of neediness. In the same way, even though at times he faces unpleasant situation, he always keeps a sweet spirit in his thoughts and believe in God's best plans for him, persistently running the race. As a result, his people have modelled after him by perservering in their own walk with God, slowly but evidently progressing in their commitment towards the kindom of God as well. As a long time friend, I also want to affirm him for his humourous character that is seldom mentioned more than seen, because this is one key quality that youth community needs in order to work towards the "fun" aspect. Personally, I thank God for you for showing me what is means to stay relevant, while at the same time not compromising what the word of God has to say in your life and obey it without question. If there is a thesis sentence to describe him, it will be: Jesus first, others second, himself third.

DAVIDSENTOSA: For being a important friend to me. As one of the longest friend I have served alongside with; seen the most stupidest moments and leadership boo boo in my life, I am surprised that he constantly keeps and nuture a spirit of humility; one whom recognises divine authority and obeying God word without hestitation. There are indeed endless list of character and growth I can affirmed for, but one thing that I cannot help but to acknowledge is the explosive dreams that he dreams for God. An idealistic person with great ambitions and passion for the kingdom of God he is. However as much as that is true, he does not allow such to become a distraction for what God has called him to be at the present. Once a quiet person by nature, he has grown to become someone who is choleric in his spirituality, cultivating a strong set of value-system in his personal life. He has learnt to be firm and unshakable while being gentle in spirit, each at the right moment. At the same time, he has also aqquired convictions that keeps him focus and as a result, his people cannot help but to be influenced and live out the same spirit that he holds; in the aspects of reaching out to people and treasuring their personal walk with God. Lastly, even though he has personal preferences of how he wants his life to be like everyone, he has chosen the path and trusted God for his future; Junior college. With that, I consider it as one of the most important quality that everyone should model after. I thank you for being generous with your love and time when it comes to people of God. Your decisive spirit, wise and God-centered choices when it comes to the kingdom. Through your life, you have shown me what it means to trust God and placing his priorities and agenda higher than ours. And I believe that your people have caught the essence of it too.

YIYONG: For being someone who has incalculate a childlike faith and a teachable spirit in his heart. As one of the most humble man I have ever served alongside with, he never fail to amaze me with his sincerity in his desire to grow and improve. Given the fame and popularity in his clique, he still understand the importance of God's kingdom and deny those. Though the discouragement he faces at times shakes him, he never leave it unquestioned but always yearns for greater advice from leaders and God. Despite the desire to strike balance in his studies and passion for sports in his life, he is never afraid and affected to be seen in misunderstood perspective from his peers in school, because he is a man who serves for the motivation of one. And because of that, he has inspired his people as an example to be a salt and light in school and have courage to stand firm in moments of weakness. Even though there is a time-bomb planted in your family and situations are tough to handle, I thank God for showing me what it means to have undivided faith, and persistently struggle to put a smile on God's face.

as i was walking home from the MRT station to my house, I was once again reminded about this is what GEN is about.

1. Grounded to the word of God
We want to be people that choose to be man and woman of one book. We have taken our first step as an entire GEN to do our ROMANS DEVOTION. :D It was actually made for GEN and by the people in GEN. :D it ended up made for NORTH by GEN

2. Love our relationship with God
We are people who treasure this relationship with God above all else. This is because this is not a religion but all about a relationship with God. Once again, we have been doing this through our devotion, shepherding, LG and your leaders random encouragements

3. Influence- light of the world
We want to be people that direct the lost back to Jesus through our lives. I'm glad to hear stories of people improving in their studies. On top of that our LG have been able to attract the lost that we have seen Riverside and Christchurch people came to know the love of God. We are in the world but not of the world. This could be evidently remember through our Chinese New year visit where we choose not to gamble

4.Motivation- audience of one
This is why we are serving. We live for not others expectation but only God. To put a smile on his face.

Woohoo! today was a tiring day from HopeKids for 2 people
i conclude that 1 thing worse than taking care of kids is taking care of other people's kids XP
But it is a joy to serve and see many ppl grow
.
Anyways, that is not what im typing for
today Mr Goh Hao Wen organised to go gym to work out
shiok rite?
a few of us went there - Haowen, Haoqiang, Wong Jun Jie, Branel and Jericho
and guess what we got out with?
Towels and more Towels!
just kidding
as you can see, we are not the fitest in GEN (duh, just look at yi yong)
But, nevertheless, with a mindset of keeping fit (not really loosing weight)
we went thru.... not hell, but the exercise equipments!
and all of us just enjoyed each other's company and jokes tgt
.
we went home with aching bodies
i can feel the strain on my arms and i dunno if i still can carry on typing XP
but i really thank God for this family who really goes through so many things tgt
.
also i just wanna say this thing
few mins ago i was just reminded how we were struggling to do what was beyond us
we struggled physically to keep fit, to maybe loose weight for some of us
but as we keep struggling, our muscles will develop, our fats will be lost (thank God)
just like our spiritual life
.
i know that this is like the thing that you all already know
but i was just thinking, are we really struggling?
are we struggling with God and with all your heart?
if we aren't, who are we to say we have won the battle? who are we to say we have grown?
.
Like a physical body, you need effort to develop your body (just ask Yiyong)
you need to struggle, you need to go beyond your limit, you need to give all you have and more
In the same way, in your spiritual life, we have to put effort to grow
.
this is not something new, but is something that we gotta remind ourselves
its not going to be easy
imagine lifting a 50kg weight when you are only 45kg
not easy, but with God, all things are possible

God, im amazed at how Jesus could pray fervently to You.

This one question i would really like to ask even myself, "should prayers only be done during service, prayer meets, lifegroups?"

or should it be a lifestyle/habit?

"Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus"

(1Thessalonians 5:16 -18).

Something that i learned..

was that, we shouldnt get too busy that we dont pray..

Praying is not just another thing we do as a religion, but its a conversation with God.

Yet the news about Him spread all the more, so that crowds of people came to hear Him and to be healed of their sicknesses, but Jesus often withdrew to other lonely places and prayed.

(Luke 5:15 - 16)

This portrays only one thing to me, even though Jesus had that busy schedule, even though lots of people came to Jesus to be healed.. Jesus often went off to pray.

Jesus were never too "busy" to pray to God.

so all the more we should pray to God lor.

i know whatever im saying doesnt really make sense to you..

but i really hope you would ask yourself, and this was the main purpose why i wanted to post, "have i been praying to God except for times when im facing problems, when its during service, when its during life group and prayer meets?"

there may be people who say yes, there may be people who say no.

and there may be people who say that, they would sometimes forget.

well, i believe that its time to change that mindset of only praying when you need it.

haha. so jiayou bah people!

Lets remember Jesus as our role model :D

I happened to see the above picture of wee kiat and wai keong when i was browsing for some photos just now. It just happened to caught the attention of my naked eye for a few seconds. For that, both of you have successfully charmed my eyes for few seconds of my life. Good job! Anyhow, i heard both of you have taken on a noble task of being a follower upper! Anyhow, it's really something honorable because this will put your love for God and his people to test! But fret not, for God is always cheering you on and we are here to build disciples of Christ with you both! :) Anyhow, it would be tough (or even you might be encountering it now) but keep praying, doing your best and never give up because God has never given up on us! So yes, to this two new follow uppers who took on such a noble task, i just want to say that we are cheering you on! In doubt, please dial 333 (JER33:3) then your leader/shepherd number. 1) At least a 3-month-old believer.

and you are kind of the writer of the book

what you decide to do is kinda written in the book

cos u are only a co-writter XP

because i've been struggling with pioneering schools, i've been struggling with my spiritual life,

i've been struggling with alot of things regarding Christ Church, that left a deep burden in my heart that overpowered me.

though could be used as motivations, but i made this burden a serious breakdown for me.

While most of you are sleeping soundly after a long day of gaining weight ever since North Steamboat event plus your own reunion dinner, I've just edited our blog layout.

Firstly, i have to make a disclaimer that I'm a complete noob at such IT stuff hence I just simply follow the 'codes' that i read. Hence, you can see that there are few new stuff on our GENGLIM. Where you will see Generation to Generations where it will be a place where we highlight that who were with us through highs and lows in GEN and have moved on to where they can continue to influence even much more for Christ. :) Next up, you would also see the part where i've included the churches we want to build for Christ. Simply because the church is a place of truth, refuge and community but most importantly it's a venue where there lost can come back to God's unconditional love. Yet, the slightly harsher thing i've done is to only include the links of people who I believe who are running this race with us. (Though i might be wrong). If you are there, you deserved it.

However, due to my noob like power if someone is un noob then you can kindly edit the photos and the matthew5:16. The font is horrible. Maybe it would be better to just put a picture or a collage of it! :D That's i don't know how, though i honestly tried.

Okay, GEN enjoy your CNY. Remember, God has made us his light. Let's shine for him!

whoo la la. while most of you are still in school, my fingers are on this keyboard! Anyhow, i have been enjoying my sleep for the past 2 days because i approximately slept more than 8 hours on both days. Simply because my body told me that i needed rest. In short, i was sick.

I was down with diarrhea and fever the night before while sleeping. believe it or not, i shitted on my shorts while sleeping two times. What made this slightly more disgusting was i was too lazy to change my shorts during my first shit on the shorts and i continued sleeping for like 30 more minutes. WHAT A DISGUSTING DAVID HOE YOU GUYS HAVE.

Oh for all for all of you who are still in school! let me ask you a science/physics question!

guess what? i didn't even know about it. then i had to goggle for it while i was laying on my bed yesterday morning. lol. it's like totally loser.

So in short, i was completely flippant to whatever that happened to me. The next amazing fact is, do you know that this is actually a western term -'wind in your stomach'. I didn't even know about that. :/ so in order to check if wind in the stomach was a china or ang mo thing i goggled about it again.

I'm not sure if anyone updated this blog! Even if no one did, i understand because of the never ending list of homework (don't believe ask Jin Lin), the love of teachers which makes you stay back (ask Shen Da), the hypnotic spell in humanities lessons always outlast your eye power to not close (ask Jericho), the distraction of dragon boaters (ask xin ru), the breaking of more than a bread but body (ask Jian Hao), the never ending sports competition and hours on sleepless nights (ask Debbie or Yi Yong) and whatever other reasons you have. And yes, mine is the never ending crime rates in the east.

But in any case, I just want to air out some thoughts that has been on my mind.

I wonder if we have been doing our devotions? If you have, keep it up because you will reap tremendously in your walk with God! Just like good food comes at a price, a strong and vital walk with God, comes with the discipline to spend time with him! If you have not, please take responsibility of your walk with God!

Secondly, it's our blood to see be a light for him! :D I want to encourage us to continue to take responsibility of our communities! A church does not happen on Saturday! A church is formed when a group of people like you and me coming together in the name of God and fellowship! So yes, we want to see many churches in woodlands.There are the six hope churches we want to it to be mother churches! There are still other churches we need to plant in woodlands! If the mother churches are not strong, how to give birth to others?

Missions doesn't start there, but here and where you are.
